Russia begins importing butter from Turkey in response to rising domestic prices

The Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection Service of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) has announced that the import of butter from Turkey has begun. This action is after the increase in butter prices Russiadirecting the Ministry of Agriculture to implement strategies to address this problem.

20 tons of butter imported

Rosselkhoznadzor said imports began on October 27, with a total of 20 tons imported on October 29. The Ministry of Agriculture had previously stated that they wanted to deal with the increase in butter prices in their own country.

The “Union of Russia”, a group representing food producers and suppliers, confirmed to the Russian News Agency (TASS) that several factors contributed to the price increase, including higher milk costs, higher logistics costs and higher packaging costs.
