On Monday, April 29, Russia launched attacks on a civilian area in the district of Arcadiasouth of Odessa, an Iskander ballistic missile loaded with cluster munitions, composed of numerous subminitions that are scattered around the site of the attack and explode in different locations to maximize destruction.

Five people were killed and thirty others were injured in this attack with this type of ammunition that is usually used on the front against tank or troop formations.

The explosions set fire to an emblematic building in Odessa known for its appearance as ‘Harry Potter’s Castle’.

The city of Odessa is one of the largest cities in Ukraine and the largest sea port in the country. Since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion, it has suffered numerous attacks that have often targeted port infrastructure to undermine Ukraine’s ability to export grain and other products.
