From May 1, more than 30 samples of military equipment, manufactured in NATO countries (USA, Turkey, Britain, France, etc.) but also in third countries, such as South Africa, will be exhibited in Victory Park in Moscow, announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The exhibition will include a number of Western vehicles captured by Russian forces during the ongoing war in Ukraine, including the US Bradley personnel carrier, the Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle and the French AMX-10 RC armored vehicle, the Russian newspaper said. Kommersant.
Victory Park in Moscow is an open-air museum focused on commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany during World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War. Russian media released footage showing NATO equipment in Moscow.
The exhibition will coincide with Moscow’s Victory Day parade in Red Square on May 9 to commemorate the end of World War II.
On Victory Day in Moscow there is a military parade and it is customary for the leader to address the crowds. President Vladimir Putin routinely uses the national holiday to showcase the country’s military might.
Last year’s event was particularly low-key, unlike previous parades, with only one tank taking part in the procession, an old World War II Soviet T-34 tank.
The parade featured the Yars, S-400 and Iskander-M missile systems but the traditional airborne part of the Victory Day Parade was also cancelled.
Victory Day was also downplayed nationwide, with at least 23 cities canceling parades to mark the day. Some regional leaders cited “security concerns” for canceling the celebrations.
