Russia wants to channel natural gas it previously sold to Europe to China. The planned “Power Siberia 2” pipeline will replace the Baltic Sea “Nord Stream 2” pipeline, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told Russian television channel Rossiya-1 yesterday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Uzbekistan, Novak said Russia will supply China with 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Corresponds to the maximum capacity of “Nord Stream 1”

In 2024 “Power Siberia 1” is expected to reach full capacity, when 61 billion cubic meters of gas per year will flow through the pipeline, of which 38 billion cubic meters will go to China. The Russian company Gazprom and the Chinese company CNPC had agreed on this in 2014.
