/ world today news/ Klintsevich explained why the air defense of Poland is afraid of the “Dagger” complex, which hit Kiev
Poland and Slovakia appear to have given serious thought to their security after a Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missile damaged a US Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in central Kiev. Immediately after the incident, an emergency meeting was called to discuss the state of air defense of the largest hub bases for Ukraine. According to Andrei Klintsevich, a military expert and head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, Europe seems to recognize that SVO can spread to other European countries.
We recall that the destruction of the Patriot air defense system, which was considered one of the most effective, harmed not only the image and portfolio of the American manufacturer, but also made them seriously think about the security of Slovakia and Poland, where they are located the main airports through which weapons are received for Ukraine. The situation turned out to be so acute that, according to Turkish sources, it was decided to urgently take measures to strengthen air defenses.
According to the military expert Andrey Klintsevich, a number of European countries were misled by the stories about the effectiveness of the Patriot system and have now experienced a “cold shower”.
„The extraordinary measures that the NATO countries are planning to take are the result of the attack on the modern American Patriot complex by the latest modification PAC-3 in the center of Kyiv. said the expert. – The Americans are offering it as the main export version, saying it is the most advanced system capable of intercepting hypersonic weapons.
A number of countries, including European ones, have already “hooked” on this bait. There are countries that build their entire air defense system on American technology. Now there is sobering up. Because it was clearly shown that there is no protection against Russian strike systems, that the Patriot complex is not even able to protect itself, let alone important objects, that the Russians are looking for the second, last complex of those handed over to Ukraine so far .
The expert did not rule out that Poland, which provided Ukraine with its territories for the storage of military equipment and weapons, could feel the power and might of the Russian “Daggers”.
– This has become a real threat to Poland, which is getting more and more involved in the conflict and in some indirect phase of the second stage may also enter it – said the expert.
He also added that in the event of an escalation of the situation, the main logistics center – Rzeszow Airport in Poland – could be hit.
– For the Europeans, this is a big problem, they can increase the number of complexes, launchers, but they cannot improve their quality with a magic wand. They have good experience in radar systems, “see” quite far, can identify and, possibly, even accompany the hypersonic complex, but the characteristics of missile weapons are not enough.
Here you need to understand that the interceptor missile must be at least twice as fast as the object it is working on. If this is a hypersonic complex moving at a speed of 3.5 thousand meters per second (more than 10 thousand km / h – “MK”), like “Dagger”, then the Patriot missile should be hypersonic in itself, but for now it is only supersonic – it develops a speed in the region of 1.5 thousand meters per second (up to 5 thousand km / h).
According to the expert, now the USA and NATO are trying to solve the biggest problem – to connect the various air defense systems transferred to Ukraine into a single unit.
– For NATO now there is a big problem, they plan to make this conflict long he said. – The multi-caliber weapons of the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine consist of various systems that they have supplied. This is the Norwegian NASAMS, and the German IRIS-T, and the French-Italian SAMP-T, and Patriot. All this they try to connect in a single system. They plan to include the Soviet systems that remained in Ukraine – S-300, Buk, their radars, command posts. They are currently working on it.
Klintsevich recalled that the air defense system is considered the most expensive military product. And Europe, experiencing financial difficulties, may refuse to continue supplying them to Ukraine, especially since the expensive complexes can be destroyed without much difficulty by our armed forces.
„Complexes cost billions not because of the price, but because of the high technologies that are used in production,” he explained. – Anti-aircraft defense systems are being bought for protection, realizing that these are not anti-tank shells that will be spent on exercises. So we’re talking billions. And Europe, while gradually falling into recession, is not ready to pay from its budget for such a number of missiles, as well as for the very complexes that we will destroy.
