Russia and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to create a joint venture to develop and manufacture a supersonic business aircraft, Russia’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Denis Mánturov announced. informs TASS.
“It will be a joint venture. The current question is what type of participation there will be. So far we have not addressed this issue. From the Emirati side, it will be the Mubadala investment fund, from ours, it is clear that it will be the United Aeronautical Corporation”, Mánturov stressed.
The Russian minister noted that they plan to create a supersonic business jet in two versions: one with capacity for eight passengers, and another for 30. According to Mánturov, the design of the aircraft could be developed by the end of 2021 or by the beginning of 2022.

“The main key parameters have already been established, the speed will be from Mach 1.5 to 1.8, taking into account that the flight time at a speed of Mach 1.8 is limited to four hours,” said the minister.
For its part, the Central Institute of Aerohydrodynamics NY Zhukovski is also developing the concept and the program for the creation of a version of a supersonic passenger plane.
Research work to create a supersonic business jet started in Russia in 2017. In 2019, Mánturov noted that these works cost 1.4 billion rubles ($ 18.9 million).
