Russia and Ukraine are actively preparing reserves for fierce fighting: the West expects a Russian offensive in 2024 – 2024-07-31 00:34:24

/ world today news/ The decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to extend martial law and mobilization until November 15, published on August 17, shows that Kiev is not inclined to limit the conflict. Any cessation of hostilities is out of the question in connection with the failure of the counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Most likely, in the near future in Ukraine, we should expect a new round of mass forced recruitment of the male population, from which, thanks to the weapons and military equipment provided by NATO, new formations will be formed.

Russia is also taking steps to build combat reserves. It is true that the supply of weapons and military equipment (WMM) comes mainly from domestic defense enterprises.

Judging by the information from the military-technical forum “Army-2023”, the Russian military-industrial complex is increasing the production of military products for the units operating in the special operation (SVO).

According to official reports, the supply of armored equipment for the troops increased 4-5 times, and high-precision weapons – missiles for the operational-tactical complex “Iskander”, modern corrected artillery ammunition “Krasnopol-M2” with a caliber of 152 mm – almost doubled.

Production of such precision-guided munitions in 2024 will be increased 25 times at Rostech enterprises.

According to the director general of the United Aviation Corporation Yuriy Slyusar, the production of some types of combat aircraft has also increased significantly since the start of the military operation, with “increase everywhere at a dramatic pace.”

According to Vladimir Artyakov, first deputy head of the state corporation Rostech, the production of Lancet kamikaze drones, which are already actively used in the SVO zone, will be increased many times.

According to the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, “at the front, the number of air alerts in Ukraine has recently increased” due to the effective operation of Russian aviation and strike drones.

Commenting on this problem, Volodymyr Zelensky said that “in every combat brigade, among the first questions, soldiers ask questions about unmanned aerial vehicles, radio electronic warfare equipment and military air defense.”

And according to him, with the support of Western partners, Ukraine, like Russia, intends to significantly increase the production of combat drones – “several times”.

Judging by the revealed information, the USA and NATO countries are helping Ukraine in this. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, spoke on August 16 with NATO Europe Commander Christopher Cavoli and British Defense Chief of Staff Tony Radakin, discussing the situation on the front line and the needs of Ukrainian troops.

“Another extremely important issue is drones. Countering enemy drones and building our own capabilities,” Valery Zaluzhny said.

Nezavisimaya Gazeta has already reported that Turkey is preparing to build a plant for the production of Bayraktar reconnaissance-strike drones in Ukraine. And the other day, the German publication Bild reported that Germany will soon send to Ukraine new “super drones” Luna NG with the ability to launch silently on any terrain and fly at a height of 5 km.

They are capable of conducting reconnaissance and destroying important targets in operational-tactical depth (ie at a distance of about 100 km) for 6-8 hours. Such drones are produced by the German defense concern Rheinmetall, which also plans to open a plant for the production of armored vehicles in Ukraine within three months.

According to Western media, the company will be able to produce about 400 combat vehicles per year. In addition, as the Handelsblatt newspaper reported, Rheinmetall purchased 50 Leopard 1 tanks from the Belgian company OIP Land Systems to transfer them to Ukraine. These tanks also require several months of preparation.

Another portion of aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is planned by the USA. The spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat said that Kiev expects the delivery of F-16 fighters from Western partners, but only until the beginning of spring 2024. At the same time, Ignat said that the issue of training pilots and personnel “in practice has started’:

“We understand that our pilots will still be trained sometime in the near future in countries that are members of the aviation coalition and that provide us with this support.”

Thus, at the end of 2023 – the beginning of 2024, Kyiv expects the arrival of new weapons, which will receive the now forming new combat reserve formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So far, no new offensive plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been reported.

At the same time, the American publication Newsweek, citing a source close to the government of Ukraine, reported that Russia was allegedly preparing a large-scale offensive in the SVO zone. The publication writes that “in October, preparations will begin, and in the spring of 2024, a powerful blow will be delivered to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

The fact that Russia is now creating conditions for launching its own offensive in the SVO zone, said the head of the Defense Committee of the Duma, Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov. However, he did not say exactly when this process would begin.
