According to Reuters, Russian human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskhalkova said an agreement had been reached on the exchange of 40 prisoners of war after meeting with Ukrainian human rights commissioner Dmitro Rubinets in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.
The two set up a separate negotiating table in an Ankara hotel, where the International Ombudsman Conference was being held, and spoke for about 40 minutes on the prisoner exchange issue.
The news agency said the two would later visit the presidential palace in Ankara to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Turkiye.
Russia and Ukraine constantly exchanged prisoners during the eleventh month of the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a speech to parliament last December that a total of 1,456 prisoners of war had been released through a prisoner exchange with Russia since the war broke out.
