Russia Accuses US of Being Behind Alleged Ukrainian Attack on Kremlin

Russia has accused the United States on Thursday of being behind the alleged Ukrainian attack on the Kremlin and other attacks on Russian territory. “We know that the decisions about the attacks they are not taken in kyiv, but in Washington“, said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, in his daily telephone press conference.

The United States “decides the goals and means and kyiv executes”, has held. “kyiv is not always given permission to choose the means,” she added. Peskov has stated that Moscow is “perfectly aware” of this and Washington must understand it.

The Kremlin spokesman has assured that it is underway a “thorough investigation” into the drone attack against the Kremlin and that the Russian response will be “balanced and corresponding to the interests” of the country.

When asked about the material impact of the fall of the wreckage of the downed drones, Peskov said that they were damaged two copper plates of the dome of the Kremlin Senate Palace. “Other damage or destruction has not been recorded”, she has stressed.

As for Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s reaction to the attack, Peskov has said that in extreme situations Putin always “maintains serenity, concentration and clarity in the evaluations and orders he gives”.

At the same time, he has indicated that what happened will not alter Putin’s plans, that this Thursday he will work in the Kremlin and not at his residence in Novo-Ogariovo, on the outskirts of Moscow.

With everything, security measures after the attack on the Kremlin will be reinforcedPeskov has assured.

The May 9 parade remains unchanged

The spokesman for the Russian Presidency has once again confirmed that the parade on May 9 in Red Square in which Putin will take part remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement in which it has recalled that Moscow reserves the right to respond to attempts to commit attacks in Russia.

These crimes must not go unanswered

“These crimes must not go unanswered (…) We are convinced that the guilty will be found and will bear a severe punishment and inevitable”, indicates the official note.

Moscow has called on other countries and international organizations to condemn Kiev’s “criminal” actions and force it to “fulfill its obligations in the field of combating terrorism, humanitarian law and the protection of human rights.”

The White House rejects these accusations.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has rejected these accusations by Russia. “The United States is not involved in that. The accusations are false,” Kirby said.

The Kremlin is “lying” when it accuses Washington of ordering an alleged attack by Ukrainian drones, a White House spokesman said Thursday.

“We have nothing to do with this case,” John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, told MSNBC. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was “lying, plain and simple” about ithas stated.

Moscow claims to have intercepted two Ukrainian drones that were targeting the Kremlin, denouncing a assassination attempt against President Vladimir Putin.

Washington has so far refrained from commenting on the precise circumstances of this incident, but the head of US diplomacy, Antony Blinken, invited this Wednesday to take all accusations from Moscow about this alleged Ukrainian attack with “great caution.”

The United States has led a Western coalition in support of kyiv since the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine and has ramped up arms deliveries. This Wednesday, Washington announced that it will send to Ukraine a shipment of ammunition, rockets and projectiles with a total value of 300 million dollars.

The Ukrainian army “has everything it needs” to launch a counteroffensiveJohn Kirby has insisted, either in terms of equipment or training.
