Russell Wilson will see action for the first time in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform in the second week of the preseason. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the veteran quarterback will be the starter against the Buffalo Bills “if he doesn’t have any setbacks.”
“Russ is scheduled to participate if he doesn’t have any setbacks,” Tomlin said. “It’s been a good week, he’s participated in all the practices. With each passing day he’s having fewer issues.”
Former Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos player suffered a calf injury during pre-training camp conditioning exercises. Because of this, Justin Fields was the starter against the Houston Texans.
The North Carolina State graduate is a 12-year veteran with nine Pro Bowl berths. For his career, Wilson has thrown for 43,653 yards with 334 touchdowns and 106 interceptions.
