Britain’s George Russell (Mercedes) set the fastest time in the second free practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix, the fifteenth round of the 24 Formula 1 World Championship, at the Zandvoort circuit. Mexico’s Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) finished 12th.
Russell, winner of the last GP in Belgium at the end of July before being disqualified for the non-regulation weight of his car, beat Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and his teammate and compatriot Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in the session.
Fourth place in the second session went to another Briton, Lando Norris (McLaren), who had been fastest a few hours earlier in the first free practice session.
The reigning triple world champion, Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), was fifth in the second session and veteran Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) sixth.
As in the first session, Czech Perez had a disappointing performance. A third free practice session will take place on Saturday, before the qualifying session that will determine the order of the starting grid.
