British comedian Russell Brand has been charged with rape in the US. He would during the shooting of the film Arthur forced an extra to have sex.
Fire is already under investigation by British police after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. This is the first time a case has gone to trial.
The woman is seeking unspecified damages. She has also sued Warner Bros Pictures, the studio that produced the film, because she claims Brand’s behavior was turned a blind eye. The woman wants to remain anonymous because she still works in the entertainment industry.
Shots in a fancy restaurant
According to the woman, Brand was involved in the recording of Arthur drunkenly showing his genitals during a scene in the chic restaurant Le Cirque in New York. Later, the actor followed her to the toilet, where he forced her to perform oral sex. According to her, a production employee stood guard at the door of the toilet room.
The woman has filed the complaint under a law that temporarily allows sexual assault to be prosecuted even though the statute of limitations has already expired. Donald Trump and Bill Cosby, for example, have previously been charged under this arrangement.
Russel Brand (48) has not yet responded to the latest allegation. He previously denied being guilty of sexual misconduct. He admitted to having an active sex life, but said there was never any coercion.
