Rush hour with next-gen upgrade, Boston Sprinter and more

Train Sim World 2 features a next-gen upgrade, major update, new content, and has been added to Xbox Game Pass.

Dovetail Games publishes the first train line in Train Sim World 2: Rush Hour. The “Boston Sprinter” serves the “Northeast Corridor: Boston – Providence”. This route is one of the oldest, busiest, and fastest passenger routes in the United States, which began operating in the 1830s.

Existing Train Sim World 2 owners on Xbox One or the PS4 system can upgrade their version to a native Xbox Series X | S or PS5 version for free and enjoy an improved version of the game made for the
latest generation of consoles is optimized. The game is also available in Xbox Game Pass.

In addition to rush hour, a major update for the existing Train Sim World 2 simulation was released for all platforms free of charge. The update updates the game to the Unreal Engine 4.26, adds new visual effects such as shadows in the distance, improves the immersion controller scheme that enables new camera views, and panels for information such as slope profiles that help drivers while driving. This update also includes some major improvements to existing routes, making it the perfect time for players to begin a journey as a train driver.

Dovetail Games is proud to have the official license from Amtrak and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the two new locomotives on the Boston Sprinter route. The team worked closely to create the look, feel and sound of these locomotives on the 70-kilometer route between Boston and Providence
to replicate exactly.

“We have worked closely with our fantastic partners Amtrak and the MBTA to ensure that we give players the most authentic rush hour experience in the driver’s seat on the Boston – Providence route,” said Jon Rissik, CEO of Dovetail Games. Immersion is at the heart of Train Sim World 2, and rush hour represents our commitment to the gaming experience
to continuously expand and improve. “

“Dovetail Games’ commitment to authenticity and passion for railways make this a fantastic partnership,” said Kerry McKelvey, Amtrak’s VP of Marketing. “Amtrak is excited to bring a new section of the popular Northeast Corridor to Train Sim World 2.”

Ryan D. Coholan, Chief Railroad Officer of the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) is also enthusiastic: “Working with Dovetail Games to give the players a view from the driver’s seat of one of our MBTA F40-3C locomotives was a unique experience. We hope that this experience as a train driver will give players a deeper understanding of the joys and challenges of running a powerful diesel locomotive on a busy railway line. “

Rush hour itself begins with the release of the Boston Sprinter, the Northeast Corridor: Boston – Providence, one of the oldest, busiest, and fastest passenger lines in the United States, which began operating in the 1830s. Players take control of the modern Amtrak ACS-64 or the distinctive MBTA F40PH-3C as they pass the busy commuter train stations.

The train stations are more lively than ever, as the platforms and wagons, as well as the improved passenger system, are bursting with activity as commuters get on and off at each station. This feature is unique to rush hour and the original Train Sim World 2 routes. It offers an increased number of passengers, a greater variety of clothing, new winter outfits and passenger scenes.
