The Russian Sergey Gorsjkov has been awarded the 2020 Wildlife Photographer with the photo of a Siberian tiger in a forest. The New Natural History Museum in London awarded the annual awards for best nature photography Tuesday evening.

The winning photo, ‘The embrace’ by Gorshkov, shows a Siberian tiger embracing a tree in a forest in Siberia. The tiger species is threatened with extinction and is only found in Siberia. The photographer waited eleven months to shoot the photo, according to the museum.

Seventeen-year-old Finnish Liina Heikkinen can call herself a Young Wildlife Photographer. Her photo shows a fox devouring a goose and doesn’t seem to want to share her booty.

This year’s jury chose the winners from more than 49,000 entries from 86 countries. People from all over the world can submit their photos for the prizes, whether they are professional or amateur photographers. The next round will start in the coming weeks.

First, the photos chosen by the jury will be on display at the Natural History Museum in London. They then move to various other locations around the world.
