Rurange-lès-Thionville. Chickadee nesting boxes to fight against caterpillars

In addition to the treatment against processionary caterpillars which will take place in April, the technical services of Rurange-lès-Thionville have installed nesting boxes for chickadees on the edge of the communal forest and on the solitary oak at the edge of the greenway.

Up to five hundred caterpillars per day

During the nesting period, a pair of chickadees consumes up to five hundred caterpillars per day.

The municipality is doing everything to ensure that the arrival of spring takes place in the best conditions.
