Since January, he has traveled 600 km, to train and be operational on D-Day. Sébastien Spir, a former football addict, started running seven years ago. He has to his credit several sowings, marathons, an expedition of 120 km in Peru while organizing at home, in Rurange, an event called La RuN’range. Nothing seems to stop him, not even the confinement during which he had, for 24 hours, chained 176 km to help the P’tits Potos de Terville. On March 25, he will fly to Morocco for a major challenge: “I will participate at the 36th Marathon des Sables , it is an emblematic event of 250 km in six stages. We will be more than 1,300, aged 16 to 86, of all nationalities, on the starting line. »

Six independent tests
This adventure, the big meeting of his career as a runner, is a personal objective because he plans to arrive, at the end of the journey, in the first hundred, but it is also a solidarity approach for the benefit of the Children of the Slaf , an association that fights to help people with Charcot’s disease. “All this was made possible thanks to the partner of the RuN’range, namely Escal concept d’Ennery , who finances my trip and who is the godfather of the Children of the Slaf. Inevitably Sébastien is getting ready and won’t give up, despite the 12 kg bag he will have to carry. His wish ? “Promote the association and its cause. For Sébastien Schlegel, the general manager of Escal concept , the support is more than symbolic. “I know patients, I am sensitive to the fight of the association. In my opinion, it is important to support such initiatives and I will do the same for two young people who dream of going to the 4L Trophy. »

€10 per kilometer
For each kilometer traveled, Escal concept will pay 10 € to the Children of the Slaf. “That means I have to go all the way,” smiles Sébastien Spir. Nathalie Bellisario, president of the Children of the Slaf of Distroff, says she is very touched by this commitment. ” It comes from the heart. More and more people are taking the disease seriously. A petition is currently circulating, it has reached 72,000 signatures. It is urgent that things move forward for patients and their families. Sébastien continues his preparation calmly and is already thinking about the future: “I am registered for the Madrid marathon at the end of April. And there will be the RuN’range in June, the profits are always used for an association or the school of the commune. If I can make my passion for sport an ally for others, I go for it without hesitation. »
