Rupiah Exchange Rate Back Sluggish

JAKARTA, AYOBANDUNG.COM – The exchange rate (exchange rate) of Rupiah against the US dollar in early trade this week (6/29/2020) opened lower following the trend last weekend.

Quoting Bank Indonesia (BI) the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate / Jisdor exchange rate weakened quite deeply by dropping 130 points to the level of Rp 14,369 from the previous position at the level of Rp 14,239.

While the Bloomberg data, the Rupiah exchange rate is at the level of Rp. 14,226 per US dollar, down 6 points (0.05 percent) compared to the previous closing level of Rp. 14,220 per US dollar.

Head of Monex Investindo Futures Research Ariston Tjendra previously said that the weakening of the Rupiah this time was influenced by market concerns about the spread of the covid-19 virus epidemic that continued to increase and the second wave gave negative sentiment to risk assets.

In addition, the weakening was driven by demand for US dollar assets as safe assets indicated to increase with a decrease in the yield of 10-year US tenor bonds which is now at 0.635 percent.
