The runway at Tromsø Airport will be closed for two hours. Avinor informs NRK at 18:47.
– Breakage on two large mills, says communications adviser at Avinor, Ylva Celius Trulsen, to NRK, and states that this means they are out of business.
She states that work is being done at full blast to fix the mills.
– Have one in reserve, but it will take significantly longer to plow the runway.
Heavy snow
The snow has led to problems in several places in northern Norway on Thursday, including delays at Tromsø Airport earlier in the day as a result of plowing of the runway.
– We plow with all available machines. It is snowing very heavily right now, says airport manager Ivar Helsing Schrøen at 19:35.
The Meteorological Institute expects some snow in Troms on the night of Friday, otherwise mostly cloudy or partly cloudy weather.
– The forecasts now are that it will snow very close in the future.

Many were affected
The airport manager states that they are working to see if they can get an alternative machine.
A number of flights circled for a longer time outside the airport as a result of the delays caused by the snowy weather. The closed runway has led to several flights being diverted to other airports, including Kiruna and Bodø.
Airport manager Schrøen says that there are many people in the terminal at the airport at the moment.
– This unfortunately affects many passengers.
Several planes on their way to Tromsø have turned around as a result of the runway being closed. Large amounts of snow have fallen in Tromsø during the day.
