That’s what a source wishing to remain anonymous told The Associated Press on Monday. Cook could get $8.6 million from performance bonuses, ESPN and NFL Network reported.
Cook has reached 1,000 rushing yards in his last four seasons. He was, however, released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year. It was to have an impact of 14.1 million on their payroll in 2023.
Cook visited the Jets facilities on July 30. He took the opportunity to observe a club training session. He had indicated that the Jets were “at the top” of his list and that his chances of signing with the team were “pretty good”, during an interview with the NFL Network.
The 28-year-old also hinted that a deal with the Miami Dolphins – his hometown – would be a “Cinderella” story. He ultimately opted for the Jets.
Cook was the Vikings’ second-round pick in 2017. He has rushed for 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns in 73 games since the start of his career. His earnings rank him third all-time on the Vikings.
