Runner from Bergamo dies during an ultra trail race in Valle d’Aosta

A runner who participated in the Gran Trail Courmayeur died shortly after the start of the 100-kilometer race, which started at midnight on Saturday 10 July

. The man, a 61-year-old from Bergamo, was found on the ground near Dolonne, about ten minutes after the start of the mountain running race that takes place at the foot of the Italian side of Mont Blanc. One of the hypotheses is that he was the victim of an illness. The doctor on the spot confirmed the death. The investigations are entrusted to the Alpine Rescue of the Entrèves financial police.

The victim is Zaverio Zamblera, 61, resident of Carobbio degli Angeli, athlete of the Runners Bergamo group

. After the radio report, “the doctor on duty immediately reached the place, just 800 meters from the start, noting his death”, says the organization, which in a note “gathers around the family and friends of the runner in this painful circumstance ».
