TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A leak from a Weibo user reveals the specifications of the successor Sony Xperia 5 III, i.e. Sony Xperia 5 IV. The Xperia 5 III has been on the market for almost a year since it was announced in April 2021.
According to an insider’s whisper, Sony Xperia 5 IV is expected to stick to the screen 6.1 inches diagonally. It can be said to be similar to the size of the current model. However, this phone will be a little heavier at 180g, previously 168g.
The phone will sport Gorilla Glass Victus (non-plus) on both sides. Camera The main one will use the IMX557, the 12 MP sensor that was previously on the Xperia 1 II.
1/1.7” means it has 1.8m pixels, larger than any other phone on the market, except for the Xperia 1 and 5 models that use this sensor (or similar).
The telephoto lens will get the IMX663, a 12 MP (1/2.93″ 1.22 m) sensor, and a dual focal length lens that can switch between 3x and 4.4x magnification. The ultra-wide camera will use another 12 MP sensor, the IMX363. (1/2.55”, 1.4 m) is popular.
Overall, it looks like the cameras on the Mark IV will be very similar if not identical to the current ones, assuming this information is correct.
The Xperia 5 IV is rumored to sport the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Interestingly, the leaker who published this info claims that the chip will be sourced from TSMC, not Samsung (the chip, SM8475, will be marketed as 8 Gen 1+).
This could mean another late launch as Qualcomm has yet to officially confirm that the TSMC version of the 8 Gen 1+ exists.
The phone will allegedly retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, which has become a trademark for the Xperia series. Also, the battery capacity will increase slightly (Mark III has 4,500 mAh).
Regarding pricing, the Sony Xperia 5 IV will launch in the CNY 5,000 (Rp 11.4 million) price range, the leaker said. The Mark III is currently priced at CNY 5,600, suggesting that the new model will cost the same as its predecessor.
