The season hasn’t even started yet as rumors of a possible trade of Joel Embiid are already there. Keith Pompey du Philadelphia Inquirer, relayed a rumor that we do not imagine materializing immediately, since the Cameroonian pivot has not (yet) made a transfer request. According to him, New York is still waiting for a signal from Embiid to take action and try to convince the Sixers to trade their superstar.
A very specific counterpart is even mentioned: the Knicks would send 2 or 3 first rounds of the Draft, Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson and Evan Fournier. Pomey does not specify in any way whether Philadelphia would be interested in this package, which would still severely displease New York. We know how the NBA works and it is possible that the Knicks leaked the “information” to put pressure on the Sixers now, waiting for a crash which would inevitably lead to a request for a trade of the future American international.
The Knicks have already paid very (too) dearly for a superstar in the past. Carmelo Anthony, one from the end of his contract, arrived in New York against Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, a 1st round of Draft and two 2nd rounds.
