Rumors of PlayStation 5 Slim and “Project Q” Surface in Microsoft Lawsuit

The PlayStation maker is preparing to launch the new PlayStation 5 Slim for $399 later this year, according to court documents in a lawsuit involving Microsoft, however, the Japanese electronics company has not confirmed the existence of such a version.

The leaks didn’t stop there, as Microsoft continued to reveal that PlayStation is also set to release a portable version called “Project Q”.

Microsoft intended to convince the judge that the Nintendo Switch was in the same markets as the Xbox and PlayStation, but the upcoming PlayStation console would limit the company’s competitiveness, putting it in third place.

US District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in San Francisco is overseeing the case and, in June, decided to uphold a temporary restraining order sought by the Federal Trade Commission to prevent Microsoft from closing a Nintendo Switch deal.

Microsoft, the maker of Xbox gaming systems, has spent months trying to get worldwide approval for the merger.

While many countries approved the takeover, regulators, the US and UK, have taken steps to stop it, arguing that it could stifle competition in the video game market.

The Federal Trade Commission took Microsoft to court last year to block the merger, but the case has been referred to a US agency judge in a trial scheduled to begin August 2.

The commission said it took its case to federal court this week because it was concerned that Microsoft was trying to close the deal and before a trial began, making it difficult, if not impossible, to reverse course if the acquisition is later found to be illegal. . .

Case documents have surfaced online revealing that Microsoft may have announced its next PlayStation before it had a chance.

A portable version of the PlayStation 5 is also expected to launch later this year for less than $300, the company run by CEO Satya Nadella wrote.

However, rumors of a mobile device codenamed “Project Q” spread across the Internet in May.

The device is designed to “play and stream games installed on your PS5 over Wi-Fi,” PlayStation explained in the video teaser description posted to YouTube.

“Project Q is a dedicated device released later this year that allows you to play any compatible game installed on your PS5 console using Remote Play over Wi-Fi,” the company explained. At 60 frames per second, the device delivers crisp visuals and smooth gameplay streamed from your PS5 when you’re away from the TV.

All buttons and features of the DualSense Wireless Controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, are displayed on the device.
