Rumors and Speculations Surrounding the iPhone 16 and 17: What to Expect

Written by Mounis Hawass Sunday, November 12, 2023 08:00 PM While the series iPhone 15 Still relatively new, rumors about the iPhone 16 are already circulating, one of the most interesting rumors being the possibility of a punch-hole notch replacing the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Dynamic Island, which was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, is a unique design element that houses the front camera and Face ID sensors, and although it received mixed reviews, there is no doubt that it was a topic of conversation.

According to tipster Majin Bu, Apple is currently testing a prototype of the iPhone 16 Pro with a perforated hole instead of the Dynamic Island, and this will be a big change, as it will eliminate the need for the pill-shaped hole that has been the hallmark of recent iPhones.

However, other analysts, such as Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), believe that the Dynamic Island is here to stay for at least another year. Young predicts that all four iPhone 16 models will feature the Dynamic Island and that the biggest display changes will come in the form of Larger screens for Pro models.

In 2025, Young expects to see more significant changes, as non-pro models match the screen sizes of professional models. This means that both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen, while both the iPhone 17 Plus and iPhone 17 Pro will have Max on a 6.9-inch screen.

Young also expects Dynamic Island technology to still be present in non-Pro models in 2025, and for the first time, the 120Hz ProMotion display will be used in less expensive phones.

As for the iPhone 17 Pro series, Young believes Apple will move to a Face ID module located under the screen with a punch-hole on the screen. This would be a big step forward in terms of design, as it would eliminate the need for any visible cutouts on the screen.
