Rumored Leaked Images of SONY Project Q: A Closer Look at the Console’s Design and Features

It is rumored that the screen of SONY’s yet-to-be-launched Project Q game console engineering prototype was leaked. From the screen, SONY Project Q is equipped with an 8-inch LCD screen, with PS5 DualSense game controllers on both sides, and the overall design is similar to PlayStation 5.

Looking at it disassembled, it seems that the design of the handle part is more like an external handle. The main part of the handle should be the mechanical structure of the handle, which is completely separated from the screen part. It is a bit like the concept of a Bluetooth handle embedded in a mobile phone.

At the same time, a group of images of the test engineering machine flowed out, which looked like an Android screen, with some apps installed on it to test the pressure and screen resolution.

If Project Q does run on Android instead of a custom operating system like the PlayStation Vita, sooner or later gamers will find a way to enable streaming apps like GeForce NOW, Shadow, boosteroids, Amazon Luna, and Xbox Cloud. If that’s the case, then Sony’s Project Q could be considered a viable alternative to devices like Logitech’s G Cloud or Abxylute.

However, there are many doubts about the screen of this short video. First of all, the text above is in Simplified Chinese, and there is also a very conspicuous QRCode. Because the screen is very blurry, we scanned this QRCode and got meaningless numbers.

According to past experience, the screen with this QRCode is usually like a Chinese counterfeit mobile phone manufacturer taking advantage of the topic to confuse the real one. Therefore, if this is really a project machine of Project Q, I am afraid that we should keep it first.

According to previously released news, SONY Project Q uses an 8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of up to 1080p and a frame rate of 60fps. When you are away from the TV, it can also provide clear visual effects and a smooth gaming experience from the PS5. The Project Q’s battery life is about 3 to 4 hours. For comparison, the Logitech G Cloud advertises more than 12 hours of battery life, and the Abxylute has more than 8 hours of gaming time.

The great thing about the Project Q is that it comes with a fully functional DualSense wireless controller with all the buttons and functions, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. However, this will only be useful when streaming PS5 games. While some PC games do support DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, that’s not the case when streaming.
