Rumor: successor iPhone 11 Pro gets 120Hz screen – Tablets and phones – News

Your arguments are a little subjective. Design, okay, if you compare it to other manufacturers they might be a little behind, but that doesn’t mean the products are bad. Sometimes innovative design is simply not good. I will mention the ‘curved’ screens from Samsung as an example. Nice gimmick, but absolutely no use value and expensive to replace. Nobody then shouts ‘Samsung makes those screens only to be able to ask for the main prize during repairs’, at Apple they do call that.

Lightning was already (far) there for USB-C. It is also a better gate mechanically, they almost never break. Functionally it is also very well arranged, because that keeps a close eye on Apple. You say they do it for the licenses, but I don’t think they make a lot of money on a cable made by another brand. They do that because of the user experience. And rightly so, because the USB-C experience is particularly bad. Two devices can both have USB-C, but you do not yet know whether they want to work together, because USB-C has many underlying protocols. Thanks to that licensing model, Apple keeps an eye on everything that works with a Lightning connection really well. The consumer no longer has to worry, if Lighnting is on it, then it works well with iPhone, etc.

In fact, I have the idea that manufacturers with USB-C are trying to make a difference. I have an Oculus Quest, which is a standalone VR headset that you can also connect to a PC with USB-C. But not with the supplied cable. That’s USB-C, but it can only be used to charge the thing. For the manufacturer they could have made that cable suitable for data for an extra 2 quarters, but of course more money is earned if they sell me a separate cable for 25 euros …

As for fast charging, I think iPhones and iPads just support fast charging, and the more modern variants also USB-PD. But they don’t include a quick charger as standard, most other manufacturers do. That could certainly improve Apple.

The following also applies to NFC: that it is user-friendly is more important than that it works technically well. And that works well, because almost everyone with an iPhone nowadays pays with Apple Pay. It is not yet that fast with Android.
