Rumor: Samsung discontinues Galaxy Note series smartphones – Tablets and phones – News

I myself am one of those people who bought the first note and about 6 years old? ago at the release of the note 5, bought the then slightly outdated note 4 that I use to date.

Especially in the era of the note 1, the specs, the screen size and the stylus with accompanying features were really a relief.

The big screen was not seen as an advantage by many at the time and it received more comments than a positive response (who is calling with his fridge, etc). Nowadays, the screen of an average phone is even bigger than that of the Note 1 and the opinion has completely changed to “who wants to fiddle with such a small screen”
The size of the screen is therefore no longer important to me.

The specs were also quite better than those of regular smartphones at the time, and at that time regular smartphones were actually just not good enough to use all apps and sites smoothly and smoothly. At the time, the Note series was really the flagship that stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of hardware. With the Note 4, the specs were also slightly better than those of normal phones, but nowadays most top devices have similar specs. In addition, I notice between my personal Note 4 and the Iphone XS that I had from work no more difference in how well / quickly / smoothly the phone works for the things I use it for. These are browsing, listening to music, and apps. With the specs of the note 4 you no longer use a quarter of your computing capacity for this, and with phones nowadays three quarters no longer. You don’t notice the difference between a quarter and three quarters of the capacity.
I think that the real top devices are therefore only interesting for the real enthusiasts who have other ways to kick a phone on its tail in terms of computing power.

Also part of the hardware was the camera, which was one of the best at the time.
Nowadays it differs per year who has the best camera and people who select on it do not necessarily (anymore) end up with Note’s or Samsungs in general.

Finally the stylus
I used this a lot, especially in the Note 1 era because it worked like a mouse with pointer, left, and right mouse button options. In that period many sites were not yet suitable or optimally usable for mobile. The desktop display in combination with the stylus that simulated a mouse was a real godsend at the time, so that I could just use sites that were not or barely usable on other smartphones on the Note 1.
By the time of the Note 4, most sites were already down, but every now and then you would come across another using this functionality. In addition, I sometimes write down some notes in meetings.

These quick notes are actually the only thing I now use the stylus for and for me no longer enough reason to buy a Note specifically for the next upgrade.

In short,
Over the years, all the advantages of a Note have disappeared for me because in the beginning the Note was the only one that tackled the inconveniences, but now both smartphone manufacturers and app / site developers have addressed these points.
