Rumor: OnePlus 12 RAM – 16GB or 24GB, Large Battery, and Periscopic Camera

According to a well-known person, the OnePlus 12 will have a whole mountain of RAM. This puts it with some other smartphones in the lead in the battle for the device with the most RAM on board.

Read on after the ad.

Rumor: OnePlus 12 RAM is 16GB or 24GB

The new information comes from the known Digital Chat Stationaccount on Weibo, which says a engineering sample of the OnePlus 12. That is not yet a final version of the upcoming device, but very major changes will no longer be implemented.

As mentioned earlier, the device runs on the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from manufacturer Qualcomm. OnePlus chooses to market variants with 16GB or 24GB RAM, making it one of the few devices of the moment. The brand previously presented the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro in China with the same amount of RAM and there are also some other smartphones on the market with as much RAM.

The smartphone will have a single front camera that can be found in a centered hole in the screen. That display has rounded sides and the round camera module with three sensors is placed on the back of the OnePlus 12. The device will have a metal frame, renewed vibrating motor and new options for dissipating heat, so that it stays nice and cool while playing a heavy game.

‘Large battery, finally a periscopic camera’

Previous rumors have already mentioned that the OnePlus 12 will have a battery of 5400 mAh, which is much larger than current devices have on board. Charging is done with a wire with a maximum of 100 watts and wirelessly up to 50 watts.

There are three cameras on the back. The primary lens and wide-angle sensor both get a 50-megapixel resolution, while the periscope camera gets a 64-megapixel sensor. This allows you to use optical zoom, with no loss of quality. For the cameras, there is again collaboration with manufacturer Hasselblad, a collaboration that has been going on for several years.

The display will have a diagonal of 6.7 inches with a 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It is an amoled display, from which the colors splash.

Launching in China in December

According to sources, the device will be presented this year for its home country China, but when we will see it here is still unknown. We are betting that this will happen in the first quarter of 2024. We can only guess at the price for now.

The OnePlus 11 came on the market as an 8/128GB version for 829 euros and a 16/256GB version for 899 euros. Curious about our experiences with that device, check out the OnePlus 11 review. It was striking that OnePlus opted for a different strategy with the 11 than before, by omitting some things such as wireless charging.
