Jakarta, Selular.ID – The numerical naming scheme has been used by Nokia for its smartphone lineup since the brand returned to the mobile market with Android in 2017. This worked well in the early years but has become very confusing lately, and is likely to be replaced soon.
According to trusted sources (via NokiaPowerUser), starting this year HMD Global will shift Nokia smartphones to a revised branding scheme that involves letters and numbers.
The end result will probably be similar to what Samsung and Motorola have done with their devices. A leaked retail listing from Russia suggests the first new model might be the Nokia G10, not to be confused with the Motorola Moto G10.
With the next generation of models, HMD Global has two options that can be taken. The most obvious involves increasing numbers, starting with the Nokia G11 in 2022 and continuing that pattern for the rest of the decade.
However, this source of info seems to suggest the HMD will probably follow the branding pattern used by Nokia between 2009 and 2011. That could lead to models like the Nokia G10-01 in 2022 and the Nokia G10-02 in 2023.
It is still unknown if Nokia’s new branding scheme will be any clearer than it is now, but it shouldn’t be difficult to do.
Currently, the newest model is known as Nokia 5.4 However at the same time, the company is selling Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 7.2, and it is difficult to determine when each model will be launched.
