Rumor: EA makes FIFA 23 free-to-play and follows competitor

For years there has been a battle between Konami and EA when it comes to football games. This is of course about Pro Evolution Soccer in FIFA. They’re each going their own way, but it looks like EA will soon be heading in the same direction that Konami is doing now with eFootball, the new name for Pro Evolution Soccer 2022. With this new direction, FIFA 23 free-to-play and that would be the first in the franchise.

This news is by Donk, a FIFA Insider who has regularly made early correct statements about the franchise. He announced in a tweet that FIFA 23 will be a free-to-play game, at least for the most part. Perhaps this will mainly apply to the online modes in the game and you will have to pay something for the offline content. This will probably be cheaper than the retail prices we have become accustomed to in recent years. It was also mentioned that FIFA 23 will support crossplay, which is also completely new to the series. This allows each player to compete against each other on different platforms, both console and PC.

All this still needs to be worked out further and have to take shape and we will first get FIFA 22 for us later this year. When more becomes known about the free-to-play version, you can read it on NWTV.
