Rumor: EA is also delaying Battlefield 2042 betas – Gaming – News

Well, there was quite a bit of fuss about some game releases in recent years and I think Cyberpunk was the icing on the cake. The fact that it was thrown out of the stores because it was not stable was quite a warning for many devs to take some more time.

Furthermore, there has been a lot of criticism of the “crunch”, the time that people work overtime to complete the game. It is now less accepted to make 18 hour days just to release a game.

And, which is also possible due to covid: working from home makes it a bit more difficult to get people to work more hours, since the family has more options to drag the person off their PC.

So yes, I get it. And I think EA also understands that if they now launch Battlefield, which is really hyped, with a lot of bugs and problems. Then the game just flops. I think they now have the calculation that in the current time people just can’t get away with some vague promises to fix things and wait weeks for a stable game. It seems that EA has finally seen the light of not coming up with crappy games and only having it working a bit decently half a year later.
