(Rumor) Apple Will Reportedly Make AirPods A Hearing Aid

Apple continues to innovate on its various devices, even though it has launched several patents.

In a PowerOn newsletter written by well-known analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is rumored to be turning the AirPods function into a “hearing aid” (13/2/2023).

Gurman explained that the Live Listen feature on AirPods will be expanded to amplify sound throughout the room around the user, so it will be especially helpful for people with hearing impairments.

According to Gurman’s writing, there’s a good chance Apple will turn AirPods into FDA-approved hearing aids, considering US regulations allow hearing aids to be purchased without a prescription.

In the next two to three years, Apple has the potential to market AirPods as this hearing aid.

Gurman hopes that this innovation can help millions of people who need hearing aids.

PhoneArena reports that Apple does not solely rely on the Live Listen feature to help users with hearing problems.

AirPods Pro will also have a Conversation Boost option that can reduce hearing loss. (13/3/2023)

This Conversation Boost feature amplifies the sound of conversations that occur directly in front of the user through the microphone on the device.

Although not as powerful as the Live Listen feature, this feature is predicted to help users follow conversations more easily.

In 2016, Apple released an earbud patent with a broader concept.
