“The issuance of the decree for the date of the parliamentary elections depends on how the MPs will organize their work,” the state said at the presentation of the new simulation training center at the Military Medical Academy.
President Rumen Radev declined to specify an exact date for the dissolution of the National Assembly after it became clear that the BSP would return to a third term to form a government. He again linked the issuance of the decree for the early parliamentary vote with the work of the deputies and stressed that he would look for a “rational solution” for holding “2 in 1” elections – parliamentary and presidential.
“I have repeatedly stated that such a mixture of parliamentary and presidential elections is against the spirit of our Constitution and the division of responsibilities between two of the institutions. This option is not in the interest of the presidential institution, but we must take into account the fact that the crisis is deepening. “We must call on Bulgarians to vote for three weeks in a row, and this is associated with spending money and especially on time. So I will look for a rational solution, because the election administration will be extremely busy,” Radev said.
“The issuance of the decree on the date of the parliamentary elections depends on how the MPs will organize their work from now on, so as to fulfill at least the most important part of the task before them,” Radev said.
According to him, the agenda is not so much the date of the elections, but whether the National Assembly will mobilize to do at least part of the work. He refused to answer a question whether he would support a political project of caretaker ministers Asen Vassilev and Kiril Petkov.
“The failure of our MPs to once again elect a regular government does not exhaust their responsibility to Bulgarian citizens. The agenda is not so much the date of the elections, but whether the National Assembly will be able to mobilize to do at least some of the work.” he said.
“The responsibility for updating the budget weighs on the shoulders of MPs. I believe that our MPs will not leave workers, retirees, businesses without money. Therefore, we all expect them to organize their work as well as possible in the remaining days. There are also important bills that they are to be voted on, “the president explained.
Rumen Radev commented on current topics during a visit to a military medical simulation training center at the Military Medical Academy.
“A unique place and facility, unique not only in Bulgaria, but also on the Balkan Peninsula. Our national security requires highly trained servicemen who are ready to take part in any operation. More important are these servicemen and their commanders. to know that even in the most complex and risky situation there are highly trained paramedics to come to the rescue to save their lives. These paramedics must have the skills to save their own lives in the first place in order to reach to the wounded, “he said.
The head of state observed a demonstration of first aid under fire, in a tactical situation and during an evacuation, and congratulated the MMA leadership on the establishment of the center, addressing the young military medics. “You are one of the first graduates who will receive a full, real training. I wish you to keep this momentum,” said Rumen Radev.
