/ world today news/ There is no political crisis in Bulgaria. This was stated by the newly elected President Rumen Radev upon handing over the CEC’s decision on the election of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Radev stated that the constitutional procedure is currently proceeding normally and there is no room for dramatization. There are two ways out – either a cabinet will be formed within the current cabinet or we expect the appointment of a caretaker government and early parliamentary elections.
Radev also stated that a president should be ready for any situation and take his responsibility.
Asked whether this parliament should appoint a new government, Radev said that President Plevneliev should finish his consultations and the procedure for handing over a mandate, then we can speak definitively.
Radev also said that “the cabinet is the exclusive responsibility of President Plevneliev. It is constitutionally so. I have his assurance that I will be notified”. He also indicated that he relies on the experience and professionalism of Plevneliev to form a good official government.
According to Radev, it is most likely that early parliamentary elections will be held, but we should not guess because there is one more mandate that Plevneliev must deliver, he stressed, referring to the preliminary statements of GERB and BSP that they will immediately return the mandate.
When asked if he was preparing his office, Radev said that it would have to wait, and the president should always be ready. “If we are talking about early parliamentary elections, I will insist in this situation, I will initiate a meeting of the Speaker of the Parliament and the leaders of all parliamentary parties with experts on electoral legislation and the initiators of the referendum, so that the options for introducing of a majoritarian electoral system and to specify the necessary actions. This will happen when it is already clear that we are going to early parliamentary elections. Until then, there is another mandate,” he commented.
The Speaker of the Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, congratulated the CEC for the good organization of the elections. The Chairperson of the CEC Ivilina Alexieva presented the certificates to the newly elected President Radev and the Vice President Iliana Yotova.
Aleksieva stated that this act is a logical conclusion after holding elections with a high voter turnout. Due to the complex political situation, the challenges facing the presidential institution are many, she said.
To Radev and Yotova, Aleksieva wished them to respond to the challenges with dignity, to work for the unity of the nation and to combine the efforts of institutions, parties and civil organizations for peace and stability in the country and wished them to be guarantors of stability in the country.
When accepting the certificate, Radev thanked all those who voted and those working in the CEC for the democratic elections.
