The head of state opened the Sofia Karate Open 2021 tournament – the President’s Cup
President Rumen Radev demonstrates his sports form again. After a visit to Plovdiv in February 2018, he appeared with abdominal training, in an impromptu race with students in the sports complex of the school “St. George” in Sofia today, he did 50 push-ups for 1 minute.
“Apart from developing physical qualities and abilities, sport builds above all character, builds personality, tempers the will and psyche. Sport educates in a team spirit and respect for the other,” said President Rumen Radev at the opening of the Sofia Karate Open 2021 – Cup of the president, in the metropolitan school.
The tournament is held as part of the calendar of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation and the “Play Sports with the President” initiative, in which the head of state encourages the physical activity of Bulgarian children and youth through extracurricular sports activities and alternative forms of physical education.
During the event, the president presented the tournament organizers with the President’s Cup, which will be presented to the team winner at the end of the competition.
“It is a great pleasure for me that for the first time I will have the opportunity to present the President’s Cup to those of you who reach the top. But the top is built inside you, it depends on your efforts, perseverance and will,” said the state. head.
Rumen Radev expressed confidence that the participants in the tournament will show the best of their skills and will compete with honor and dignity.
“Use every challenge and obstacle as a springboard for your future success,” said the president of the participants in the competition.
