The chairman of the ABV Party, Rumen Petkov, described Slavi Trifonov’s request to form a government on his own as indecent. He stressed to the media the need for political dialogue.
“I don’t think a self-respecting formation would go that way. In the end, I say this with all due respect to Mr. Trifonov, with whom I have known for many years, this is not done. You cannot look at others as entourage and servants and those who have no choice but to support you. It is not right. We need to talk to partners and society. “
Commenting on Trifonov’s draft cabinet, Petkov recalled that many of the announced ministerial names have a rich political past, despite the widely advertised application for brand new faces in the proposed composition for the new government.
“I know the prime minister. I was personally a member of Sergei Stanishev’s government with him. He is an experienced man. He was a minister for 4 years with Mr. Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and 4 years with Mr. Stanishev, which is a guarantee for a very solid experience as a manager in various political configurations. I have known him since 2001. The other key factor – the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Radi Naidenov, in addition to his roots in the Pleven region, his grandfather is one of the great anti-fascists in Bulgaria and one of the first justice ministers after 1944. Radi Naidenov is an indisputable authority in terms of morality and personal training. I know him as Mr Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’s chief of staff. I have known Mr. Nikolay Radulov since 1997. He was Secretary of the Ministry of Interior under Minister Bogomil Bonev and under Prime Minister Ivan Kostov. These are people with a lot of experience and well known in different circles. By “different environments” we mean from pawnshops to universities. ”
The leader of ABV also commented on the set priorities of Slavi Trifonov’s draft cabinet, pointing out shortcomings of strategic national importance. “There is no word about the judicial reform, about the Specialized Court and the Prosecutor’s Office, about the place of the witness protection unit, there is no word about the Chief Prosecutor. Does this mean that the issue of judicial reform is not among the legislative priorities of the ITN? There is no word on guaranteeing Bulgaria’s energy security. There is one sentence that is about starting the gas interconnector. Which gas interconnector? Sounds very playful. I do not have the capacity to analyze these priorities. Construction of the required number of kindergartens. Construction of a brand new children’s hospital. Buying helicopters for medical purposes. Construction of all other highways. What do all the other highways mean? As for the “start of the privatization of BDB”, this sounds like an outright threat. 51% majority stake of the strategic investor. 49% on the stock exchange. This is a withdrawal of the state from the opportunity to lend to small and medium-sized businesses, to lend to businesses in areas in a very difficult situation, such as Northwestern Bulgaria. This means that we are completely withdrawing the state from the possibility of lending to one or another sector. “
