Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli has won the trophy for the best player of the week on the lawns of the Champions League.
The Argentinian was one of the great architects of the victory obtained by the Spanish club on the ground of Juventus Turin (3-0), a feat which allows the formation trained by Unai Emery to qualify for the quarters of final. The former Montpellier goalkeeper was preferred to Darwin Nunez (Benfica Lisbon), Koke (Atletico Madrid) and Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), the American midfielder having scored one of the two goals of the Blues’ success in Lille (2-1 ).
Geronimo Rulli is also part of the eleven of the best players in the round of 16 second leg which were played on Tuesday and Wednesday. With four players, Villarreal is the best represented club. Atletico Madrid’s French striker Antoine Griezmann is mentioned.
