Rülke wants to become FDP state leader – Baden-Württemberg

With his sharp attacks on the government, he has made a name for himself as parliamentary group leader, and now he is aiming for the leadership of the FDP state association: Hans-Ulrich Rülke.

Theurer was appointed on 1 September at the suggestion of the Federal Government to the Board of Federal Bank and resigned from all his posts – Theurer was most recently State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Federal Government Commissioner for Rail Transport. With regard to the move to the Bundesbank, Theurer spoke of a lifelong dream that was coming true for him.

The election of the new FDP state chairman is said to take place at the state party conference on January 5. There will also be a member survey. The results of the survey are expected to be available in December, but they are not binding. Members can also still stand for election at the party conference.

Rülke, a German studies graduate and former high school teacher, wanted to become FDP state chairman in 2013, but lost to Theurer in a vote. The two then formed a team for a decade. Rülke himself has been a member of the state parliament since 2006 and a member of the FDP since 1985. His political career began in 1999 on the local council in Pforzheim.
