Rules are being revised, luxury cars will be banned from buying Pertalite

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.comGovernment through the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) is currently drafting the latest regulations regarding the provisions for the purchase of fuel oil (BBM). Pertalite. Later, through this latest rule luxury vehicles are prohibited from buying Pertalite.

Currently government is currently revising Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Supply, Distribution and Retail Selling Price of Fuel Oil (BBM). Along with that, the government and Pertamina are also preparing technical instructions for the purchase of Pertalite.

“The study (regarding the regulation on the purchase of Pertalite) is being finalized, assisted by a team from universities,” said Committee Member for the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Saleh Abdurrahman to Kompas.com, Tuesday (31/5/2022).

He explained that currently Pertalite has become a Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP), so that production and distribution are monitored by the government, and can be subsidized through compensation to Pertamina.

In addition, the price of Pertalite is also regulated by the government, whose selling price is currently being held in the midst of rising crude oil prices. gap which is great for its economic price.

“There is a big gap compared to the economic price. It is also logical that luxury cars use non-subsidized fuel. Non-subsidized fuel is also cleaner and environmentally friendly,” said Saleh.

For information, the government has set a Pertalite quota of 23.05 million kiloliters (KL) for this year. On the other hand, the government has decided that the selling price of Pertalite will remain at Rp 7,650 per liter or not increase.

Meanwhile, according to government calculations, Pertalite’s economic price reached Rp 12,556 per liter assuming the price of crude oil was in the range of US$ 100 per barrel.

Along with the holding of the price of Pertalite, the government also added a special energy compensation budget for Pertalite by Rp. 114.7 trillion. Initially, the government did not prepare compensation funds for Pertalite this year.
