After the victory over Zorya in the last round, Rukh head coach Vitaly Ponomarev made only one substitution in the starting lineup: Runich replaced Mysyk. For Vorskla, this was the first game in the new championship, and the Brazilian Santana made his debut in the UPL as part of the Poltava team.
Both opponents actively started the game, quickly moving from defense to attack, but there were no dangerous moments. Poltava residents were the first to open an account. After a corner kick, Sklyar shot with his head, the ball rebounded from the defender again to the captain of Vorskla, and this time Alexander did not miss his chance. The home team responded with a powerful free kick by Didyk, who shot close to the goal frame.
In the middle of the half, Pavliuk had a good opportunity to score a goal, who shot above the goal from the “point” area. Rukhivtsy earned a promising free-kick thanks to Klimchuk’s efforts, but Isenko eliminated the threat after Prytula’s shot. And yet, soon the “yellow-blacks” leveled the score. Santana broke the rules against Klimchuk and referee Romanov awarded a penalty. The victim himself punched from the “point” and accurately shot past the goalkeeper. Klimchuk converted his 7th of 9 penalties in the UPL.
By the end of the first half of the match, the Rukhites had two more opportunities to score. First, Isenko turned the ball to a corner after Klimchuk’s free-kick, and then, after a corner kick, Didyk headed above the goal.
At the beginning of the second half, Rukh created a real moment for scoring. Teslyuk went on a date with the goalkeeper, but failed to outplay him, and Sych missed the goal when finishing. Then, after a pass by Prytula, Klimchuk completed his raid to Isenko’s goal with a goal, scoring the 3rd double in the championships.
The troubles for Vorskla did not end there. This time, Kvasnitsa was at the forefront of the attack. The goalkeeper parried Ilya’s first shot, but the ball bounced back to Kvasnitsa, who this time hit the target, scoring his first goal in the UPL (in the 10th game). And then the Poltava team scored a goal, but into their own net. Isenko made a pass to Pavlyuk, who wanted to pass back to his partners, but did it unsuccessfully and the ball rolled into the goal. For Pavlyuk, this was the first own goal in the UPL (in the 27th game).
As a result, Rukh won both the first strong-willed and the first major victory over Vorskla. Rukh’s unbeaten club record home streak lasts 8 games: 4 wins and 4 draws. Vorskla ended its winning streak, which lasted 5 games in the Premier League. Viktor Skripnik at the helm of various clubs suffered his 30th UPL defeat.
