First victory of the year 2023 for RC Vannes, Friday evening, at La Rabine, against Montauban. A forceps victory far from reassuring all those who are beginning to seriously doubt the ability of this team to claim the Pro D2 Playoffs this year. Too many faults, too unstable, not solid enough defensively, and it lacks cohesion (we should think about stabilizing a hard core of players over several years…)
In the end, it was after the siren that RC Vannes got away with it…they got really hot. In the standings, Vannes is 8th, 5 points from the first qualifier. Suffice to say that a victory at Mont de Marsan next week seems almost essential to get back on track. So not easy.
Note the upcoming arrival of Sione Kalamafoni who will be Vannetais next season. The Tongan international (34 years old, 37 caps) from the Scarlets has signed up with the club until 2025 and is capable of playing second or third line.
