the essential Trailing at the start of the match and authors of a superb comeback, the Marivalois lost by a very small point 25 to 26 against the leader Le Bugue.
Left behind at the start of the match by a Bugue team who came to Lacapelle-Marival with the status of leader, the Marivalois made a magnificent comeback to go in front 25 to 23 a few minutes from the end. Unfortunately, a final penalty scored by the visitors finally deprived the Lotois of victory.
Denis Caussanel, co-coach of the juniors at Stade Marivalois and licensed referee at the club, gives us his impressions after this meeting.
“I see two different halves in this match.
A first period where we suffered a lot and which the Bugue players mastered well, strong on the fundamentals. We even saw ball losses in melee, just on impact. Even if there were intentions on the Lotois side, they were too messy. The Périgourdins deserve to take the lead at the break (3 to 16 at half-time).
The red card at the start of the second half changes the situation and completely revives us. There was desire and dynamism.
We regained the advantage a few minutes from the end, after having scored three tries, and despite a lot of turnovers. We feel the Buguois are on the decline, but they do not give in completely and manage to score on the two incursions they make into our camp. The final result depends on a few details: an unwelcome forward and a victorious drop.
Of course, we have regrets because we were in a position to win. It’s really a shame! We must still recognize that our adversaries were better in place, better managers and cleaner in their initiatives.”
