Rugby: an English third line signs at MHR for next season

Montpellier Hérault Rugby has registered a new arrival for next season. The English third line from Bath, Zach Mercer, will join the Hérault from the 2021-2022 season.

While Montpellier are active behind the scenes to recruit a new manager, a new player will join their ranks at the end of this season.

It was the Bath club which announced the signing of England international Zach Mercer (2 caps). “Bath Rugby can today confirm that Zach Mercer will leave the club at the end of the season and join the Top 14 team, Montpellier“, wrote the English club adding that he will be replaced by South African Jaco Coetzee.

Mercer, 23, trained in Bath, was coming out of contract this summer. “It’s a long-held dream to play in France where the game is very physical, which will suit my style well. I think I can bring something different to the Top 14 “Mercer said, quoted in the statement.
