Antonio Ruediger choose number 22 in Real Madrid. What is the reason Ruediger wears that number in Madrid?
Ruediger was officially introduced as a new signing for Real Madrid at Valdebebas, Monday (20/6/2022) night WIB. The 29-year-old centre-back joined Los Blancos on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea expired. Ruediger signed a four-year contract by Madrid until 2024.
This German passport player will wear the number 22 jersey with El Real. The number was previously used by Isco. Isco himself is certain to leave Madrid this summer after not extending his contract with Los Merengues.

“I like number 2 in general. It was Carvajal’s number, so I had to choose between 12 and 22 and I chose 22. I didn’t think too much about it, I just liked the number,” Ruediger was quoted as saying on Madrid’s official website.
