Rudy Giuliani has told a court in the US state of Georgia that he finds himself not guilty of the charges in the election fraud case. Former President Donald Trump did the same on Thursday.
Giuliani was Trump’s lawyer during the 2020 election, who had to lose out to current president Joe Biden in that election.
The former mayor of New York has submitted his statement in writing. He gave up his right to be heard in court. Giuliani did fly to Georgia last week to turn himself in. After having a police photo taken, he paid a deposit of around 140,000 euros and left.
Giuliani, along with Trump and 17 others, are suspected of attempting to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. They would have done this by making false statements, among other things.
The lawyer was sentenced in another case on Wednesday to pay damages to two employees of a Georgia polling station. He falsely accused them of tampering with ballots. After his statements, the women received death threats.
