Rudolph Isley, singer and founder of the band The Isley Brothers, died at the age of 84 at his home in Olympia Fields, Illinois.
“There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he is in a better place,” Ronald, Rudolph’s brother and co-founder of The Isley Brothers, said in a statement.
Although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed, it is suspected that he suffered a heart attack, according to reports from the TMZ portal.
Born April 1, 1939 in Cincinnati, Rudolph co-founded The Isley Brothers as a gospel quartet in 1954 with O’Kelly, Ronnie and Vernon.
He left an indelible musical legacy with hits like “Shout!”, “Twist and Shout” and “It’s Your Thing,” a song for which he won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.
In addition to his outstanding musical career, Rudolph was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022.
