Rudi Peeters Steps Down as CEO of Vandersanden Amid Radical Change Process for the Company

He has steered the company through turbulent waters in corona times and outlined the outlines for a radical change process. But Rudi Peeters prefers to leave that process to someone else as captain of the ship. He will step down as CEO at Vandersanden, but will continue to monitor the implementation of future plans as an independent director.

Hasselaar Rudi Peeters (60) was hoisted on board in 2021 as the first non-family CEO at the Vandersanden family business. In that position he succeeded Jean-Pierre Wuytack. Peeters was given the assignment to help the company take major steps in terms of sustainability, innovation, digitization and the organization, and thus prepare the company for the future. Before that, Rudi Peeters worked for the KBC Group, where he had made it to CIO (Chief Information Officer) or, if you prefer, ‘Chief IT’ of the group.

Turbulence

“I joined the company two years ago with full dedication and a clear ambition,” says Rudi Peeters himself in a reaction. “I am also proud of the steps that have been taken with the entire team of this company. We did that in very turbulent circumstances: the aftermath of the corona pandemic, followed by the energy shock and interest rate rises that had consequences for the manufacturing industry and construction.”

A foundation has now been laid for Vandersanden 2.0 and Peeters has recently asked himself whether he wants to lead the further implementation of this or whether to leave this to a new CEO. He chose the latter. “At the request of the board of directors, I will also assist in the search for a new CEO, and also help him to take over the torch. I am also pleased that I can continue to be associated with Vandersanden as an independent director. I want to continue to play an active role in the transformation of this wonderful company.”

Chalk lines
Chairman of the Board Lucas Vandersanden has words of praise for Peeters’ efforts over the past two years. “He managed to steer the company through turbulent waters and at the same time set the guidelines for a radical change process. In that short time he has unmistakably left his mark on the company, and all our employees have taken him to the heart. I look forward to working with him as a director,” says Lucas Vandersanden.

The Vandersanden Steenfabrieken group has ten branches, three of which are in Belgium. The company has 800 employees, of which 350 in Belgium. In 2022, Vandersanden recorded a turnover of 270 million euros.
