Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev reached the third round of the ATP Masters tournament in Rome.
The 25-year-old Russian, seeded at the tournament under the sixth number, in the second round beat the Slovak Alex Molchan, the 59th racket of the world, with a score of 6:3, 6:4.
Rublev started the tournament from the second round. The next opponent of the Russian will be the winner of the pair Guido Pella (Argentina) – Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina (Spain).
Khachanov failed at the start of the Masters tournament in Rome
Rublev takes sixth place in the world ranking. The Russian has 12 ATP titles. At the Tokyo Olympics, he became the Olympic champion in the mixed doubles. In April, Rublev won the Masters in Monte Carlo, and then reached the final of the tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The tournament in Rome will end on May 21st. The prize fund of the competition is €7.7 million. The Masters series is second in importance only to the Grand Slam and the ATP Finals.
The Pella-Davidovich-Fokina match will take place later on Saturday. The Fonbet betting company accepts bets on the victory of the Argentinean with a coefficient of 4.70, the Spaniard – 1.19.
