Ruben Neves: Will Manchester United Wild at Wolves in Winter?

It is well known that you learn more from defeats than from victories. Manchester United got some food for thought in the 1-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Personnel planning in particular could benefit from the home bankruptcy.

The Red Devils got a first-hand look at Ruben Neves’ abilities. The Wolves central midfielder, like the rest of his team, made a convincing appearance and sparked interest at Old Trafford.

United are said to have been thinking about signing the Portuguese since last summer. The coach at the time, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, campaigned internally for this project, which, however, was not implemented. In January, Manchester will probably start a try, as interim coach Ralf Rangnick is not satisfied with his alternatives in midfield.

Wolverhampton made it clear at the start of the season that the club is ready to talk to Neves – if the price is right. As Sunsport reports, Man United is currently preparing an offer of around 42 million euros. The Wolves only let themselves be talked about with a sum of at least 48 million euros.

Neves is now feeling very much at home in the Midlands, but would like to take the next step in his career as soon as possible. According to Wolverhampton coach Bruno Lage, the player could take this step in his team. “Ruben has come to a point where he needs a challenge. And we also want a new challenge for the club. We want to take younger players like Ruben to the next level.”

In the table, Manchester and Wolverhampton are only separated by three points. It is therefore difficult for Ruben Neves to assess which of the two clubs he will play at internationally next year in order to make the greatest possible leap in development.
