Rubén Blades to Headline Cook Music Fest in Puerto de la Cruz with Latin American Rhythms

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Apr 26 (EFE).- The Panamanian singer Rubén Blades will be the highlight of the new edition of the Cook Music Fest that will take place in Puerto de la Cruz between July 14 and 22, with a total of four concerts dominated by Latin American rhythms.

The salsa legend and winner of eleven Grammys will put the final note to a festival in which artists such as Prince Royce, María Becerra, Olga Tañón or Omar Montes will participate, the organizers explained Wednesday during the official presentation of the event together with the mayor of the town, Marco González.

In this way, they hope to break the attendance record achieved the previous year with the presentation of Oscar de León and Gilberto Santa Rosa, who put the more than ten thousand people who gathered on the maritime avenue of Puerto de La Cruz to dance.

The music will begin to play on Friday, July 14 by Maka, a young artist from Granada who mixes Spanish rhythms such as flamenco with others such as reggaeton or bachata in his songs.

A hodgepodge that will continue on Saturday, July 15, by the American singer of Puerto Rican origin Prince Royce, a world idol of bachata, who will be accompanied by the Argentinean Emilia and Ledes Díaz from Tenerife.

A week later, on Friday, July 21, it will be the turn of María Becerra, also from Argentina, who will share the stage with the Spaniards Omar Montes and Ana Mena.

Finally, on Saturday, July 22, the festival will close in style to the rhythm of merengue by Olga Tañón, Tony Tun Tun and Joseph Fonseca, who will warm up the spirits of the attendees before the main course of the event: Rubén Blades.

“The poet of salsa” will exhibit his show called “Salswing!”, with which he has toured the stages of the United States and with which he will seek to make Tenerife vibrate six years after his last visit.

The festival will also have its traditional commitment to gastronomy, including numerous catering offers within the venue, to which “food trucks” will be added for the first time.

The mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, took advantage of the occasion to highlight the commitment that the town makes to bring “international level artists” to celebrate the “July festivities”, which are a claim to “continue attracting visitors to the city, which already showed the full poster in the last edition and that this year will undoubtedly be repeated”.
